There are over 3000 sensors installing in Rotorua parking spaces in the inner city. Smartphone owners can immediately see where the nearest free bay is without trolling the streets for one.

It’s a simple app, it doesn’t go into detail on the type of car park, how long you can park there or the fare, it simply shows you that if you drive down a certain street, you will either find a park or not.

What we aim to do:

• Decrease traffic congestion
• Reduce pollution
• Increase local business pedestrian traffic as parking capacity is maximised
• Reduce the number of distracted drivers hunting for spaces
• Reduce drivers stress so that customers are happier as they find spaces quickly and easily
Improve traffic flow, saving time and increasing safety
• Maximise use of the spaces available

This is the first release of the app. We have lots of ideas on how to develop this app, but we want you to test it out for us first and send in your comments into the feedback tab so we can make it better. Happy parking!
